Akwatia Line Scrap Dealears
Prior to its formation, individuals in the area thus Akwatialine sold scraps to dealers who took the scraps in trucks to Accra.
The area attracted more people into the scrap business as the business became more profitable. Elders in the area saw the need to bring everyone involved in the scrap business value chain together to form a group to enable them carry out their businesses effectively.
This was to protect the interest of members in the businesses and also provide for their welfare. With this, the Association was able to negotiate for the land they were settled on as squatters as well assist members’ when they got involved with the police as a group.
With the formation of the group in 2019 - leaders were appointed with a council of elders. Currently, there are about 1500 members in the association with well constituted leadership working to promote the interest and welfare of the association.
