Step 1: Preparation
☐ Ensure you are of sound mind and making the Will voluntarily.☐ Print the Will clearly on plain A4/Letter paper.☐ Review all names, assets, and beneficiaries carefully.☐ Arrange for two adult witnesses (must not be beneficiaries or spouses of beneficiaries).
Step 2: Signing
☐ You must sign the Will in the presence of both witnesses.☐ Each witness must sign immediately after you, in your presence.☐ Witnesses should write their full names, addresses, and occupations.☐ Use blue or black ink only.
Step 3: Ghana-Specific Notes
Wills in Ghana require two witnesses.
A medical certificate of sound mind may be advisable for elderly testators.
Will may be deposited at the High Court Registry for safekeeping.
Step 4: Storage
☐ Store the original Will safely (Court Registry, solicitor, or trusted executor).☐ Provide copies only to trusted parties.
✅ Execution complete when signed and witnessed by 2 adults.
