Leadership Summary

I led strategic delivery of the British Council’s flagship TGSS postgraduate scholarship programme across 10 countries, transitioning from Alumni Manager to Co-Manager. I designed frameworks, tools, and reporting systems for multi-country implementation, guided scholar recruitment and placement across 30+ universities, and coordinated institutional partnerships. I secured executive approval and funding to shift the programme from delivery to long-term alumni engagement—ensuring sustained impact through leadership development and strategic outreach.

Key Activities

Through the programme, I:

  • Guided country teams across 10 countries through standardised processes for scholar recruitment, placement and post-study engagement activities.
  • Negotiated tuition agreements with over 30 universities in the UK, Ireland, and France.
  • Led strategic alumni engagement, securing executive approval and funding for post-programme activities.
  • Coordinated donor reporting and impact tracking to demonstrate value for investment and long-term outcomes.

Outcomes

The programme supported over 400 scholars across 10 countries, with a strong emphasis on equity and excellence. We exceeded the gender target of 30%, and a third of scholars attained distinction in their postgraduate studies. Impressively, 99% returned home to contribute to national development. Today, TGSS alumni are driving change in their countries—occupying leadership roles in government, industry, and development organisations.
